About Wiemann

The Inn, 1900's

The factory today

...To this (today)

How many companies can claim to have their roots in what was once a country inn?

But in 1900, "start ups" were not quite what they are today, and there certainly wasn't as much freedom or choice. However, company founder Mathias Wiemann was soon having to open a larger workshop, and acquiring his first machinery put him firmly on the path to slow but consistent growth, resulting in the company of today's size and presence.

The former inn is now an area of 98,000m2, of which 48,000m2 contain the production, administration and storage facilities. Around 600 people are employed – it's the second largest employer in the town of Osnabrück in Northern Germany. Wiemann is still privately owned by the family: at the helm today is the founder's great grandson, Markus Wiemann, who took over from his father in 2005.

Every day, between 400 and 500 bedrooms are put on the road to destinations throughout Europe and beyond. Every day eight truckloads of chipboard are used to make 10,000 components, which are then grouped into orders for dispatch. Over the years, Wiemann has become one of Germany's leading bedroom manufacturers. The company has made a name for itself as the leading supplier of "semi-fitted" rooms both modern and traditional. A varied design policy that can adapt almost instantly to changing market requirements is the foundation on which the company's present role is based.

Quality first

Wiemann prides itself on offering top quality, trouble-free performing products. Strict quality controls are in place throughout the manufacturing process, which is accredited under the quality assurance standard ISO9001.2000. Consistent technical improvements and a highly developed quality management system result in high quality products at affordable prices. These are the sorts of features you'll find – normally associated with goods costing a lot more:

Up the mark environmentally

All timber based materials come from sustainable sources. All the materials used in a Wiemann bedroom, such as chipboard, foils and adhesives, meet the requirements of formaldehyde emission class "E1".*

Independent institutes monitor Wiemann to ensure that these requirements are met. The high quality surfaces on their solid wood products are physiologically safe and meet all industrial hygiene requirements and standards. Production facilities are all run in accordance with EU directives.

* For the technically minded among you, Class E1 stipulates 8 mg or less of formaldehyde per 100 g oven dry board for unfaced particleboard, OSB, and MDF under test method EN 120. It stipulates 3.5mg/m2h or less of formaldehyde release for all other panel products under test method EN 717-2.
